Privacy and cookies

This policy describes what StatCompute collects, what it does not, and how to change any of it. It applies to statcompute.com and is current as of August 2026.

What we never collect

Nothing you type into a calculator. Every tool on this site computes in your browser using JavaScript. There is no server-side computation and no upload step, so the data you paste — a column of salaries, patient measurements, experiment results — is not sent to us as part of using the calculator. There is no upload step and no server-side computation. Nothing is stored between visits either; close the tab and it is gone.

We do not ask for or store your name, email address, or any account. There is no login, because there is nothing to log in to.

Files you drop on a calculator are read in your browser, not uploaded. The CSV import reads the file with the browser's own FileReader, parses it in the page, and fills the boxes below it. There is no upload step and no server to upload to. The file never leaves your machine, and it is forgotten when you close the tab — we do not store it, and neither does anything else on the page.

The one exception, stated plainly: the Copy-link button. Each calculator has a button that builds a shareable link, and it does that by encoding your inputs into the address — that is what makes the link reproduce your result. Opening or sharing such a link sends those values in the address of an ordinary web request, so they appear in the host's server logs like any other URL, and in any advertising request made while that page loads. Nothing else on the site puts your data into a URL: typing into a calculator and reading the answer does not. If a column is sensitive, read the answer on screen and do not use the share button. We strip the values out of the address bar once the page has restored them, so they do not linger in your history, but that happens after the request has already been made.

What is collected, and by whom

Google Analytics 4 records standard web analytics: which pages are viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, which browser and device type, which site referred you, and interaction events such as "a calculator was run" (recording which calculator and which mode — never the numbers you entered). These events are pseudonymous, not anonymous: Google sets a cookie holding a randomly generated client identifier, and that identifier links the events from one browser together across pages and return visits. It is not your name, but it is not nothing, which is why it counts as personal data under the GDPR and why you can switch it off below. Your IP address is used by Google to derive a coarse location and is not stored by us.

Two details worth stating plainly, because they are what stops your data leaking by accident. The address we report is the path only — a calculator keeps its state in the query string of the URL, and the query string is stripped before the pageview is sent, so the numbers in a link you shared never reach Google. And the calculator events carry only the tool's name and its mode.

Google AdSense serves the advertising that pays for the site. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads and, where you have allowed it, to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.

Netlify, which hosts the files, keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for security and abuse prevention.

Your choices

• Privacy choices in the footer of every page turns analytics and advertising cookies on or off. Your choice is stored in your own browser and applies immediately.
• Global Privacy Control. If your browser or an extension sends a GPC signal, this site treats it as an opt-out and denies analytics and advertising storage before you are asked. An explicit choice you make afterwards overrides it, because that is a later and more specific decision.
• In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland nothing is stored until you agree: consent defaults to denied in those regions, and a dialog asks first.
• Everywhere else, measurement is on by default with the footer opt-out always available, which is what US state privacy laws require of an opt-out regime.
• Google's own controls. You may opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices and youronlinechoices.eu.
• Third-party vendors other than Google may also serve ads on this site through Google's network; where they do, their own cookie use is governed by their policies, and the opt-out links above cover the participating ones.

Legal bases and your rights

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, the legal basis for analytics and advertising cookies is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time from the footer. The legal basis for basic server logs is legitimate interest in operating a secure site.

Under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and US state privacy laws including the CCPA/CPRA, you have rights of access, deletion, correction, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We hold no personal data of our own to access or delete, since we collect none directly; requests relating to data held by Google are best directed to Google, and we will help where we can. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and the site is not directed at them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
